Kiwis - the people, the bird and the fruit

The Fruit

I bought some biscuits with kiwi and honey in them at the airport...that's all I can remember about them!

The Bird

Never actually saw any Kiwis in the wild. Though I did see lots of postcards with the bird on them. I saw a few Keas on the mountain hike though.

The People

What was most surprising is that there didn't seem to be a lot of people around. At least, not on the south island. We only really saw people in the big cities of Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland and we'd watch them on their way to work and think 'SO glad we're not them!). The kiwis we did meet tended to have something to do with the tour, our drivers - Smiley, K9 and Jerry, our tandem instructors and other tour guides. What we can work out from the men kiwis is that they tend to either be the older rugged, 'I jump out of planes for a living' kind or the youger, fresh faced, clean cut, action Ken type. They all also like to say 'Sweet as' after everything!

It wasn't such a bad thing.
